Abstract
A study on highly modular structures for 2-D separable-in-denominator recursive digital (SDRD) filters is presented. Three modular structures are proposed based on the partial fraction expansion of 2-D SDRD provided in [A. Zilouchian and Z. Huang, On highly modular systolic structures for separable-in-denominator 2-D filters, IEEE Trans. Signal Process. 42(7) (July 1994) 1881–1884]. Emphases are on parallelism, modularity, low delay, and simplicity for hardware and software implementation of 2-D filters. The performance analysis on each structure is also provided. The proposed structures could be effectively utilized for VLSI implementation of 2-D SDRD filters.
