Abstract
A method for designing M-channel cosine-modulated filter banks with prescribed passband ripple, stopband attenuation, and channel overlap is proposed. The method employs the weighted constrained-least-squares technique for the prototype filter design and is based on the minimization of a one-dimensional objective function. The use of two objective functions is investigated and recommendations are made. When compared with other methods, the proposed method reduces reconstruction errors associated with the filter bank.
