Abstract

For years research issues relating to steel weldability have yielded many problems. Currently, with universal computerisation and use of the latest techniques to simulate different processes, analytical methods for assessing the weldability of steel are being used more often. This article presents a programme, including a description of its capabilities, for evaluating the weldability of steel. An important aspect of the application is its unlimited expansion, including the primary database, the ability to compare the calculated ratios of four welding methods and a presentation of the results in graphical form. In addition, the software can select the language (English or Polish), which further increases its use, as there are currently very few computer applications for the estimation of steel weldability on the Polish market.

► We present a programme, including a description of its capabilities, for evaluating the weldability of steel. ► The software provides a comparison of calculation of steel weldability via four different welding methods. ► The programme includes the option of selecting additional material for a specified base material. ► The software allows to assess the welding’s susceptibility to cold cracking and cracking under repeated heating. ► The programme allows for practically unlimited development of the database with new base and additional materials.
