Abstract
Following the Finite Element Method and Procedures, by introducing a connectivity matrix, the assembling process is achieved in a general and standard way for any system with one- and two-dimensional linear elements. This allows us to set an algorithm and to program it to get the total stiffness matrix of the system. A plane truss and a heat transfer problem are presented as examples to show several properties inherent to the connectivity matrix.
