Abstract
Let I be a height two perfect ideal with a linear presentation matrix in a polynomial ring R=k[x,y,z]. Assume furthermore that after modulo an ideal generated by two variables, the presentation matrix has rank one. We describe the defining ideal of the Rees algebra R(I) explicitly and we show that R(I) is Cohen-Macaulay.
