Dual response of the KATP channels to staurosporine: A novel role of SUR2B, SUR1 and Kir6.2 subunits in the regulation of the atrophy in different skeletal muscle phenotypes

In slow-twitch muscle, staurosporine in the short-term up-regulates proteolytic and sarco-KATP channel genes, reducing their expression/activity in the long-term. In fast-twitch muscle, staurosporine activates the sarco-KATP channels, down-regulates Bnip-3 gene.
