Abstract
The novel 3,5-O-dicaffeoyl-4-O-malonylquinic acid (1, irbic acid) has been isolated from Centella asiatica cell cultures. In addition to antioxidant properties, irbic acid shows a significantly inhibition of collagenase activity, suggesting a possible utilization of this substance as a topical agent to reduce the skin ageing process.203
