Abstract
Vindoline functioned as an inhibitor of Kv2.1 channel by performing dual effects: (1) increasing membrane action potential thus resulting in the increase of Ca2+ efflux through L-type voltage-dependent Ca2+ channel and finally the stimulation of insulin secretion and (2) preventing pancreatic β-cells from apoptosis. All these contributed to the impressive hypoglycemic effect of vindoline in vivo.96
