Abstract
Cell cycle distribution of leukemia CCRF-CEM cells treated with plant extracts and doxorubicin at their IC50 values for 72Â h: All the four plant extracts as well as doxorubicin induces apoptosis and considerably altered the distribution of different phases, with time-dependent increase of sub-G0/G1 phase cells. Upon 72Â h treatment, the extracts from Echinops giganteus and Piper capense induced cell cycle arrest in G0/G1, whilst those from Imperata cylindrica and Xylopia aethiopica induced arrest between Go/G1 and S phases.235
