Abstract
Four iridoid glucosides were isolated from false ipecac, Ronabea emetica, a plant previously confused and regarded as substitute of true ipecac, Carapichea ipecacuanha. Whilst the methanolic extract of leaves was dominated by asperuloside (1), stems and rhizomes, the latter used in traditional medicine, deviated by accumulating mainly deacetylasperulosidic acid (3).
