Abstract
Polygalae radix (PRE) treatment inhibited 6-OHDA-induced cell damage, caspase-3 activity and the production of ROS and NO. In addition, PRE protected mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons from MPP+-induced toxicity. PRE treatment also protected dopaminergic neurons and fibers from MPTP-induced toxicity in the SNpc and ST on MPTP-induced dopaminergic neuronal damage in a mouse PD model.
