Abstract
Activity guided fractionation of Semecarpus anacardium seed yielded a potent xanthine oxidase inhibitory biflavonoid, tetrahydroamentoflavone. The compound showed a non-competitive inhibitory activity close to the standard xanthine oxidase inhibitory durg allopurinol.
