Abstract
For all sportsmen vaccines against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, influenza, hepatitis A (HAV), hepatitis B (HBV), tick-borne-encephalitis, measles, mumps and varizella are indicated. Under special circumstances vaccination against Japanese encephalitis, poliomyelitis, typhoid fever, meningococcal disease, pneumococcal disease and haemophilus influenzae type b (hib) might be relevant. There are quite a few options to reduce side effects of vaccination such as timing of vaccination, choosing a vaccine with an optimal application and an appropriate vaccination technique.
