Abstract
The sudden cardiac death in sport is a rare but tragic event. The causes of sudden cardiac death in sport in younger athletes under the age of 35 are mainly by congenital cardiovascular disease (such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or coronary anomalies) while in older athletes over the age of 35, especially coronary heart disease is causally. By appropriate screening testing (according to the current guidelines of cardiological societies), the risks posed by inadequate high work loads can be reduced, so that in the corresponding athlete collectives this guidelines should be consistently implemented.
