Abstract
This study evaluates 50 patients over 10 years showing that after partial meniscectomy or reconstruction in children or adolescents the functional results, to those of adult patients, in the medium term (5 years postop) are the same. In addition in a long term (10 years postop) a further improvement can be expected. There were significantly higher cartilage defects after partial meniscectomy in medium term MRI in the associated femorotibial joint section. In the long term, there was a coincidence of osteochondral lesions (OCL) and stagnating development of knee joint function, with a clear prevalence of OCL after partial meniscectomy.
