Abstract

•A combinational foamer system containing silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles was prepared.•The novel foamer system has enhanced foam stability by adding SiC nanoparticles.•It also has high fluid-carrying capability, good frothing capability, strengthened anti-condensate oil ability.•The novel foamer system is suitable for the application of gas well deliquification.

One of the main concerns in the application of foam for gas well deliquification is the stability of foam. This article presents a novel foaming system which uses silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles in order to enhance the stability of foam. A series of experiments were also conducted which confirmed the foaming system had high fluid-carrying capability, good frothing capability and strengthened anti-condensate oil ability. In this paper, a typical water flooded gas well was selected to illustrate the application of this foaming system. The successful application of the field experiment indicated that this nanoparticle-stabilized foaming system could promote the gas production of water flooded gas wells.
