Abstract
- Local charges at bitumen-water interface were detected by atomic force microscopy.
- These charges appeared as a random “noise.”
- Autocorrelation of “noisy” charge signals was constructed.
- Charges were correlated over distances much larger than molecular dimensions.
- Correlation length was shown to be pH-dependent.
