Abstract
⺠Starch ampholytes with carboxylic and quaternary ammonium groups were synthesized. ⺠Ionized carboxylic groups form ionic bonds with cationic groups in ampholyte (AmS). ⺠Colloidal particles of AmS flocculated kaolin suspensions effectively.
