Abstract

Research results of light scattering in two polydisperse colloids are presented. Scattering of linearly polarized light by particles of diamond and graphite in water is considered. Cases of different polarization directions of incident and scattered light are researched. Angular dependencies of scattered light intensity and its depolarization degree are compared at chaotic and ordered particle orientation. The particle orientation was caused by the external electric field. The input of dipole and quadrupole scattering of particles at chaotic and ordered particle orientation in intensity and depolarization of scattered light by the colloids is discussed.
