Abstract

Nano-sized silver powders coated with Pb-based glass material with glass transition temperature of 504 °C are prepared by high temperature flame spray pyrolysis. The mean size of the composite powders is 42 nm. The thickness of glass layer covering the nano-sized silver powder is 1.4 nm. The silver conducting films formed from the composite powders with 3 and 5 wt.% glass contents have fine grain sizes at firing temperatures of 500 and 600 °C. However, the silver conducting film fired at a temperature of 700 °C has large grain size, dense structure and regular morphology. The sheet resistivities of the silver conducting films formed from the nano-sized silver–glass composite powders with 3 wt.% glass content are 33, 19 and 15 mΩ/sq at firing temperatures of 500, 600 and 700 °C, respectively.
