Abstract
Super water- and highly oil-repellent films have been synthesized by electrochemical polymerization of some new monomers of fluorinated alkylpyrroles. The surface roughness of the films was controlled by the polymerization conditions such as concentration of monomers, applied voltages, polymerization time and so on. The contact angles on the most liquid-repellent film surfaces are about 160° and 140° for water and salad oil, respectively. The sliding angle for the salad oil is 9.5 ± 2.5° which is much better than that on the poly(alkylpyrrole) films coated with a fluorinated alkylsilane coupling agent. Thermal and organic solvent stability for the liquid-repellent property of the films were quite good to be used practically.
