Abstract
Alizarin complexone (AC) adsorbed onto nano-porous TiO2 films show complexation with Fe2+ ions, and de-complexation in the presence of UV light in a reversible manner. FTIR and DRFT-IR studies indicate that surface anchoring of AC result from carboxylate groups and 2-OH group. Coordination of Fe2+ ions onto the surface results from the 1-hydroxy and 9-carbonyl groups of the alizarin nucleus.
