Statistical method of experimentation for berberine adsorption onto reactive bridging agent modified cellulosic fibers has been successfully studied for determining the optimal values of three important parameters. Synthesis, reaction mechanism and application of reactive anionic agent and effect of three important parameters were discussed in detail in our previous publications [T.K. Kim, Y.A. Son, Dyes and Pigments 64 (2005) 85; T.K. Kim, S.H. Yoon, Y.A. Son, Dyes and Pigments 60 (2004) 121]. In this article, experiments were conducted by a standard design of experimental analysis called as central composite design (CCD). Experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by ANOVA (analysis of variance) statistical concepts. Optimum process conditions were obtained by surface plot as well as Monte Carlo technique to achieve high % exhaustion.
