Abstract
A comparison between linear least-squares method and non-linear regression method of the widely used pseudo-second-order kinetic model, for the sorption of Hg(II) onto dead biomass of marine Aspergillus niger was examined. Four pseudo-second-order kinetic linear equations are discussed. Kinetic parameters obtained from four kinetic linear equations using the linear method differed but they were the same when non-linear method was used. Type 1 pseudo-second-order linear kinetic model has the highest coefficient of determination. Results show that the non-linear method may be a superior way to obtain the kinetic parameters.
