Abstract
Influence of bivalent malate on aggregation behavior of butanediyl-1,4-bis(dodecyl hydroxyethyl methyl ammonium bromide) (12-4-12 MEA) surfactant was studied through SANS and conductometric measurements. Critical micelle concentration (CMC), Krafft temperature, foamability, foam stability, oil solubilization capacity and aggregation number showed maxima or minima at 12-4-12 MEA: Na-malate concentration ratio 1:0.5. Complete disappearance of charged on micelles was observed on addition of equivalent or excess amount of Na-malate. No significant change was observed in aggregation parameters of dodecyldimethyl ethanolammonium bromide (C12DMEAB) surfactant on addition of Na-malate.
