Abstract
A novel polyelectrolyte PA-EDTA was prepared by covalent attachment of EDTA onto polyelectrolyte PAH. The negatively charged polyelectrolyte PA-EDTA and the positively charged polyelectrolyte PAH were self-assembled to form PA-EDTA/PAH multilayer films by a layer-by-layer method. The conductivity of the PA-EDTA/PAH multilayer films saturated with Cu2+ ions was potential controlled switchable, and thus the multilayer films could be used as switchable materials.
