Abstract

With an increase of benzyl alcohol (BA) content at constant weight ratio of Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) to water, the system capacitance first increases to a maximum in the rod-like micellar region and then decreases in the spherical micellar region. And the differential capacitance remains almost unchanged in the rod-like micellar region and decreases in the spherical micellar region. At constant weight ratio of SDS to BA, neither the system capacitance nor the differential capacitance changes much in the bicontinuous microemulsion (the mixed region of oil in water (O/W) and water in oil (W/O) microemulsion), but both decrease quickly in the oil in water microemulsion (O/W) region with the addition of water content. The variation of capacitance corresponds to the structural transformation of the SDS/BA/H2O system.
