Abstract
⺠MVPA was used to study the development of automaticity in categorization tasks. ⺠With training, common activation patterns across tasks decreased in basal ganglia. ⺠With training, tasks became more difficult to discriminate using activation. ⺠With training, patterns of representational similarity became similar across tasks. ⺠Results suggest two learning systems and one automaticity system in categorization.
