Abstract
⺠Coatings from bimodal particle suspensions can be conveniently deposited by convective-evaporative assembly. ⺠Substrate wettability and suspension composition affect coating microstructure. ⺠Size ratio and charge affect deposition and convective mixing or demixing. ⺠Saccharomyces cerevisiae behave as negatively-charged particles. ⺠Particle-yeast coatings are open-packed structures (15-45% mean void space).
