Abstract
► Oxidized aluminum and titanium surfaces were modified by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of 1,3,5,7-tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane. ► Our CVD process produced not only monomeric layers but also particulate films by changing the CVD temperatures. ► The resulting surfaces became hydrophobic/superhydrophobic with low contact angle hysteresis. ► Water droplets on these sample surfaces moved very easily without “pinning”.
