Abstract
In this paper, we study the uptake of amitriptyline in aqueous solutions by liposomes consisting of a neutral lipid 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) and a negatively charged lipid 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-[phospho-rac-(1-glycerol)] (DOPG). The 50:50 DMPC:DOPG liposomes at 0.72 mg lipid/mL loading reduce the free drug concentration in serum by about 30-40% at physiologically relevant concentrations.
