Abstract
Negative CMV PCR results from fecal samples cannot exclude CMV-ID and thus have to be confirmed by analyzing intestinal biopsies. However, positive fecal PCR results are diagnostically useful and might help to circumvent invasive diagnostic procedures as endoscopy.
