Abstract
- RNA helicases of the Upf1, DEAD, DEAH, and Ski2 families are present in bacteria.
- DEAD-box proteins are involved in ribosome biogenesis, RNA decay, and translation.
- DEAH-box proteins are involved in RNA processing.
- Upf1 and Ski2-like proteins are present in some bacteria, but with unknown function.
- Proteins not belonging to these families may have RNA unwinding activity.
