Abstract
⺠Rho uses a 'tethered tracking' mechanism to translocate along nascent RNA. ⺠Rho competes with the ribosome for binding to RNA and to transcription elongation effector NusG. ⺠By removing stalled RNA polymerases, Rho prevents conflicts between transcription and replication. ⺠Rho participates in small RNA and riboswitch-mediated regulatory mechanisms. ⺠Rho silences antisense transcription.
