Abstract
⺠The bacterial membrane is heterogeneous in distribution of lipids and proteins. ⺠Transertion is of major importance in the spatial organization of the bacterial cell. ⺠The membrane domains created by transertion are implicated in the activity and distribution of many proteins. ⺠Transertion is considered as a global regulator, coupling metabolism to the cell cycle.
