Abstract
⺠The Candida cell wall contains virulence factors, antigens and PAMPs. ⺠The cell wall is cortical for the transition between commensalism and virulence. ⺠The yeast to hypha transition markedly affects wall composition and immune reactivity. ⺠Cellular morphogenesis is critical for the equilibrium between commensalism and virulence.
