Abstract
⺠Mosquito defense against malaria parasites involves an unexpected variety of biological processes. ⺠Hemolymph immune proteins may form convertase complexes as in the vertebrate complement system. ⺠Reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide are important determinants of parasite success. ⺠Mosquito gut flora has both direct and indirect effects promoting Plasmodium killing. ⺠Designing Biotechnological strategies against Plasmodium transmission.
