⺠We apply an ecological framework to review research in industrial agriculture. ⺠Industrial broiler production is connected to surrounding ecosystems. ⺠Antimicrobial use in feed impacts the chicken microbiome and resistome. ⺠Antimicrobials, resistant bacteria, and resistance genes move between environments.
