Abstract
► Chlamydia trachomatis L2 grew in human lymphoid Jurkat cells. ► Enriched human-blood lymphocytes also supported the bacterial growth. ► The bacteria infecting the Jurkat cells were susceptible to antibiotics. ► A Jurkat cell mutant over-expressing granzyme K possibly refractory to the C. trachomatis infection, was established.
