Graphical abstractModeling enophthalmos in reconstructed orbital floor defect using a mathematical engineering model.Download high-res image (293KB)Download full-size imageHighlights⺠(Early) onset of enophthalmos is related to change in orbital volume. ⺠We have developed a model in which materials for orbital floor reconstruction can be evaluated. ⺠Mechanical properties, deformation, orbital floor defect size and orbital volume are critical. ⺠The model is helpful in selecting reconstruction mate rials accounting for critical parameters. ⺠With the model, clinicians can preoperatively judge whether a selected material is suitable.
