Abstract
⺠We analyse turbulent solid-liquid flows in stirred tanks by two-phase PIV experiments. ⺠Effect of particle size and concentration on mean velocity and turbulence levels. ⺠Turbulence dampening with the smaller particles, enhancement with the bigger ones. ⺠Reduction of particle settling velocity due to free stream turbulence under specific conditions.
