Abstract
⺠Glucose decomposition and formation of HMF and levulinic acid are studied. ⺠Formic acid is used as a catalyst instead of sulphuric acid. ⺠Several kinetic models are evaluated for the reaction system. ⺠Observations can be explained by introducing an intermediate compound into the reaction scheme.
