Abstract
â¢Exhaled breath condensate contains glucose (â 0.01 mM for healthy subjects).â¢Breath condensate glucose levels correlate positively with blood glucose levels.â¢Non-invasive monitoring of diabetes is possible through analysis of breath aerosol.
We show that exhaled breath condensate (EBC) contains glucose (â 0.01 mM for healthy subjects), in contrast to previous works reporting minimal glucose content in EBC. The evaluated breath condensate glucose levels correlate positively with blood glucose levels, thus offering the prospect of a non-invasive approach to the monitoring of diabetes.
