► The material properties which limit dehumidification performance are investigated. ► Dehumidification is limited primarily by a combination of thermal affects. ► At higher face velocities, moisture diffusion kinetics also become important. ► The absolute moisture capacity has very limited influence on the performance. ► The optimum isotherm shape is between a Type 1 and linear isotherm.
