Abstract
⺠The exhaust gas recirculation used in automotive industry to reduce the NOx emissions can involve some condensation on the intercooler. ⺠We carried out an experimental study to characterize thermo-hydraulically an intercooler working in an EGR system. ⺠Depending on the gas velocity, condensed water is accumulated inside the intercooler. ⺠At high gas velocities, the accumulated water can be dragged to the internal combustion engine. ⺠It is highly recommended installing a water separator in low pressure EGR systems.
