Abstract
For the purpose of improving the performance of conventional single effect absorption refrigeration cycle, this paper proposed a novel absorption refrigeration cycle with an expander–compressor. Simulation results show that the COP of the proposed cycle is much higher than that of conventional single effect cycle and two stage cycle at the most simulated conditions when the integrated efficiency is higher than 0.6. In addition, the proposed system can be powered by low grade heat sources and the pump work of this cycle also can be supplied by the expander, which are great advantages compared to conventional cycles.
