Abstract

- Investigated a new sequential-co-culture bioprocess strategy for ethanol production.
- Single vessel operation was done on flask and bioreactor level.
- Investigated above strategy in bioreactor using lignocellulosic hydrolysate.
- Control of oxygen levels during fermentation was the key feature.
- High productivity (1.58 g/l/h) and yield (88%) were obtained with hydrolysate.
