Abstract
⺠Stem cell production systems need elaborate monitoring and control for meeting requirements on the final cell product. ⺠In this article design the use of biomechatronic design methodology for supporting these efforts is described. ⺠Biomechatronic design, which is based on fundamental systematical design approaches are originating from mechanical engineering. ⺠It is here directly applied on the challenge of designing and controlling one of the most demanding manufacturing processes in biotechnology. ⺠The article provides a number of guidelines, tools and methods that can help in making basic design work more efficient.
