Abstract
⺠Microbial urease plays a critical role in calcite precipitation in the environment. ⺠Sporosarcina pasteurii urease genes were cloned into Pseudomonas strains. ⺠Analyses confirmed recombinants produced urease, comparable to S. pasteurii. ⺠The recombinant Pseudomonas produced organic polymers and precipitated calcite. ⺠SEM evidenced organo-mineral biopolymers formation on the surface of recombinants.
