Abstract
- Novel enzymatic route to produce enantiopure (R)-acetoin from meso-2,3-butanediol.
- Efficient cofactor regeneration system is necessary.
- Up to 48Â mM (R)-acetoin can be produced in an electroenzymatic reactor.
- The key limitation was shown to be product inhibition.
- For a continuous production system immobilised enzymes can be applied.
